Summary This collection consists of ten documents, all in English, about the Early Archaic from 10,000 B.P. - 8000 B.P. (8000 B.C. - 6000 B.C.). Daniel re-analyzes the curated Hardaway site materials, and Melzer and Smith compare subsistence strategies in North America between the Late Paleo-Indian and Early Archaic. Both discuss a wider area and would be a good place to begin. The other documents report on one or more sites within a region, covering many areas of the eastern United States and southern Canada. Anderson examined settlement patterns along the Savannah River. Chapman writes about several buried sites along the lower Little Tennessee River, and Foley describes the geomorphology of these sites. Ellis writes about the Nettling site in southern Ontario. A large percentage of the cherts from this site were from Ohio. Higgins discusses the unstratified Notcha site in Illinois, and Smith excavated at the deeply buried, stratified Swan's Landing site in Ohio.
